Rapid Transit Stations, BRT  

 

National Network of Highways Project (NNHP), National Infrastructure Development Corporation (NIDCO), Trinidad & Tobago: Lead Architect, responsible for providing architectural direction for the National Network of Highways Project for the Government of the Republic of Trinidad & Tobago as part of the first phase of the country’s $2.44 billion National Network of Highways Project:

NNHP Tolling Plazas and Operations & Maintenance Buildings, National Infrastructure Development Corporation (NIDCO), Trinidad & Tobago:  Lead Architect; developed conceptual design and client presentations for the Tolling Plazas to be located on the five Highway Packages of the project; managed a multi-disciplinary design team in Boston and Port of Spain to produce preliminary engineering drawings and specifications. Design direction included incorporating styles native to Trinidad & Tobago as well as tropical and sustainable architecture typology in general. [2010].

NIDCO Building Build-out, National Infrastructure Development Corporation (NIDCO), Trinidad & Tobago:  Lead Architect; developed, plans, specifications and cost estimates for the build-out of the offices of the President and Board of Director’s of NIDCO in Port of Spain, Trinidad.  Managed a multi-disciplinary design team in Boston and Port of Spain to produce client presentations, preliminary design and IFC drawings. Managed in-depth assessment of existing conditions, adoption of International Building Codes for the project and interface between Client, local consulting engineers and AECOM. [2010]

vivaNext Bus Rapid Transit System, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC), York Region, Ontario, Canada: Lead Architect for the AECOM Joint Venture Team (YC2002:  AECOM, Delcan, IBI Group & Kewit – EllisDon), responsible for providing architectural direction, technical expertise, team leadership and mentoring, for the YRRTC vivaNext BRT system.  Major tasks within the project included:

vivaNext (Phase 2) BRT median station, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  York Region, Ontario, Canada:  Lead Architect for Phase 2 of the Viva system: design and construction of dedicated centre lane rapidways and BRT stations, (both convertible to LRT), and boulevard improvements.  Responsibilities included design, and coordination of Facilities Design work between Joint Venture firms, as well as independent consultants for Wayfinding & Graphics, Micro-Climate Assessments and lighting design.  Participated with the client in the elaboration of communications assets, including Public Consultation presentations, architectural concept videos and social networks content. [2007 – 2009]

Rapidway Alignment Sections Y1, Y2H3, H2, & Y3.2D1 York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  York Region, Ontario, Canada:   Lead Architect for the development and implementation of the vivaNext station design in several alignment sections within the Regional Municipality of York: Yonge Street running North - South, and Highway Seven running East -  West.  Work consisted of adapting the vivaStation to site specific conditions, elaboration of preliminary engineering documents, technical specifications, and interface with Design Build Joint Venture partners. [2007 – 2009]

Cornell Multi-Modal Transit Terminal, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  Markham, Ontario, Canada: Lead Architect for the development of a multi-modal public-use Transit Terminal and surrounding Transit Oriented Developments.  Responsibilities included Master planning of a mixed use city block, including commercial office buildings, retail space, a hotel, and parking; and the integration of Viva, Go Transit and TTC local bus services. [2008]

Enterprise Civic Mall, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  Markham, Ontario, Canada: Lead Architect for a two kilometer civic mall, using the Shared Space urban design concept, aimed at integrating uses in public spaces. The mall combined residential, commercial, mixed use and public spaces, with the Viva BRT transitway.  Responsibilities included Master planning, conceptual, and preliminary design, coordination of public and private transit issues within the public areas, development of Operational Guidelines with YRRTC, and interface with the Town of Markham.  [2007 - 2009]

Richmond Hill Centre Concession Retrofit, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada: Task Manager, in charge of developing  a feasibility study for the integration of a new concession space within the existing Richmond Hill Centre multi-modal terminal. Work consisted of evaluating spatial alternatives, impacts to existing passenger circulation in the terminal, and preparation of a demonstrative plans illustrating the preferred design solution.  [2008]

GTA Presto Card TVM retrofit, York Region Rapid Transit Corporation (YRRTC),  York Region, Ontario, Canada: Task Manager, in charge of developing strategies for integration of new Fare Technologies into existing Viva bus stops and Terminals. Work consisted of identifying technically feasible alternatives for each station type and terminals; preliminary cost estimates, and graphic presentations. [2008-2009]

Tren Urbano, GMAEC – General Management Architectural and Engineering Consultant: [AGA&A as a Sub to Eduardo Molinari & Asociados].  Senior Architect for the TU GMAEC, a multi-disciplinary consortium responsible for the construction, engineering and architectural design oversight of the Tren Urbano design-build transportation project in San Juan Puerto Rico ($2.3 Billion).  Major tasks within the project included:

Rio Piedras (underground), Bayamon, Sagrado Corazon, Centro Medico and Villa Nevarez stations, TU GMAEC, San Juan, Puerto Rico:  Senior Architect, participated in conceptual design, initial and alternate alignment studies; station concept design and presentations for several aerial, retained-cut and underground stations.  Responsibilities included addressing guideway constructability issues, Urban Design Guidelines, prototype station design, station site development plans, integration of future Route 66 highway, preparation of client presentations, presentations to the Secretary of Transportation, and community outreach.  [1994 - 1995]

Las Lomas (Martinez Nadal), Torrimar and Jardines de Caparra stations, TU GMAEC, San Juan, Puerto Rico:  Senior Architect responsible for preliminary engineering and Design Build Contract Documents for the Las Lomas (Martinez Nadal), Torrimar and Jardines de Caparra stations.  Work included urban design presentations to the client and community groups, code compliance reviews;  design and production.   1995 - 1996]

Tren Urbano Yards & Shops/Operations Administration Building , TU GMAEC, San Juan, Puerto Rico:  Senior Architect, participated in the Preliminary Engineering, Bid Documents, Contract Management & Construction Oversight. Work included urban design presentations to the client and community groups, code compliance reviews;  design and production.   [1995 - 1996]

Systemwide Elements Package, TU GMAEC, San Juan, Puerto Rico:  Senior Architect responsible for programming, concept design, preliminary engineering and production of the Systemwide Elements Package, grouping Signage & Graphics, elevators and escalators,  and other repetitive elements  throughout all 8 Contract Segments of the project. [1996]

Construction Oversight, TU GMAEC, San Juan, Puerto Rico: Architectural Coordinator for STTT (Systems Test Track Turnkey) Contract.  Worked under the STTT Contract Manager, responsible for architectural coordination between the STTT Design Build Contractor and the Client, related to the stations and Operations & Maintenance facility.  Served as advisor to the Contract Manager on issues related to architectural design and quality, Client initiated Scope Changes, and Contractor initiated Change Proposals.  Monitored Contractor compliance with Contract Documents, Design Criteria, Special Provisions and Technical Provisions.
