Healthcare Design
Medical Center Support Buildings, Medical Services Suites,
I am a Senior Architect, working for AECOM Transportation for the last three and a half years. First as Lead Architect on the Viva Bus Rapid Transit project in York Region, Ontario, Canada; and most recently on the National Network of Highways Project (NNHP) in Port of Spain, Trinidad & Tobago. Prior to that, I worked as a sub to DMJM Harris for eight years on the Tren Urbano rapid transit project in Puerto Rico. I have over 28 years of experience as an architect, 15 of which were as principal architect of my own design studio, Americo Gonzalez Aquino & Associates, PSC.
In Trinidad, I lead the Facilities Design and Preliminary Engineering effort for the Tolling Plazas and Operations Buildings to be located throughout the five Highway Packages of the project. I managed a multi-disciplinary design team, located in the AECOM Boston office and in Port of Spain, to produce preliminary engineering drawings and specifications. Design direction included incorporating styles native to Trinidad & Tobago as well as tropical and sustainable architecture typology in general.
I have planning, design and construction management, and oversight experience in transit projects, as well as project and firm management experience in commercial, corporate, institutional, healthcare, hospitality and residential projects. I am an advanced user of Autodesk AutoCAD 2010, Architecture 2010, and Impression; Google Sketchup and Kerkythea; MS Word, Excel, Access, Project, Access and SharePoint Designer; Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign, I am currently training on REVIT Architecture, and have started the process to achieve LEED AP Accreditation.
I am a registered architect in the US territory of Puerto Rico; a member of the American Institute of Architects, and an International Associate Member of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada.
